Recycling helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and can be done in small ways, such as teaching kids to build birdhouses from recycled materials.
Goal: Workshop with neighborhood kids
Activity: Build birdhouses with recycled wood pallet
Recycling helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which in turn helps to slow the rate of climate change. In fact, recycling just one ton of paper saves 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, and 3 cubic yards of landfill space. It also prevents 2.4 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
We can help our environment with small steps like running a neighborhood workshop to teach kids how to use recycled wood pallets to build birdhouses for our feathered friends. The kids were excited to learn about the importance of recycling and to get creative with their birdhouse designs. They were also excited to install their birdhouses in their backyards and observe any bird activity.
The workshop was a great success, and it showed how even small actions can make a big difference for the environment. The kids learned about the importance of recycling, got to be creative, and had a lot of fun. They also made a positive impact on the environment by building a birdhouse that will provide shelter for birds for years to come.
